Vive XR Elite

With the Vive XR Elite, HTC presents a VR headset with AR functions for consumers. A business version will follow later. For around $1100, you get a stylish, slim and modular device that is ahead of the much cheaper Quest 2 or Pico 4 headsets in terms of technology and design, but not quite up to the slightly more expensive Quest Pro.

XR-News from CES 2023

The tech show in Las Vegas traditionally brings plenty of XR news at the beginning of the year. Besides the aforementioned Vive XR Elite, we got

Mojo Vision is running out of mojo

Or rather, Mojo Vision is running out of money. Although the Mojo Lens AR contact lens is an impressive piece of technology and has even made it to the test user phase, Mojo Vision was unable to attract any more investors.

There are simply too many unanswered questions regarding the technology itself, its adoption and useful applications for AR contact lenses ahead of an economic period trimmed for low risk. Mojo Vision is laying off 75 percent of its workforce and refocusing on MicroLED.

Mega Apple leak

2023 is finally supposed to be the year of Apple Reality. Apple reporter Mark Gurman currently assumes a presentation in spring and a market launch for developers in summer. The general launch would then take place in the fall.

The Information leaked many details about Apple's VR-AR headset this week, including some that were not yet known, such as that the headset will feature a reality wheel that can be used to switch between virtual reality and real-world environments.
