Adobe Substance 3D Modeler for Quest 2 & Pro available with Link
Adobe Substance 3D Modeler combines the best of VR and desktop modeling in one powerful application. Adobe has released the application for Quest 2 and Quest Pro via Quest Link or Air Link, as well as natively on Rift and Rift S. A Sparse Distance Field (SDF) engine allows you to model without having to worry about polycount, topology, or subdivision levels. In an interview, Lydia Choy, Director of Product Engineering, explains how Modeler works as part of the artist's creative toolkit and how it integrates into existing workflows.
VR Open: First Golf Major in VR, Qualifiers have started
The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A) and Golf 5 host the first golf major in virtual reality. The VR Open will take place at the virtual replica of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, with qualifiers underway since July 1, 2023. 20 players in four categories will qualify for the VR Open Finals, which will take place from July 15 to August 19. Golf 5 is available for Quest 2, Quest Pro, Pico 4 and SteamVR.
Beat Saber expands The Weeknd Music Pack with two new singles
The popular "The Weeknd Music Pack" for the VR game Beat Saber gets two new songs: "Die For You" (Feat. Ariana Grande) and "Less Than Zero". The two new tracks are available now and can be purchased individually or as part of the expanded music pack. The music pack costs $14.99, and the individual songs are available for $1.99 each.
Apple Vision Pro supports WebXR for immersive browser experiences
Apple confirms that Safari on Vision Pro supports WebXR, a web standard that enables immersive experiences through the browser. WebXR is already supported on a limited basis by Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, Safari, Quest Browser, Pico Browser, Magic Leap Browser, Chrome for Android, Samsung Internet, Opera Mobile, and Firefox for Android, some of which are in developer preview.
