Bigscreen Beyond: First face scans for PC VR headset begin

Bigscreen has started production of its new PC VR headset. The first customers will to be suplied soon. The Bigscreen Beyond is a small, lightweight SteamVR headset with OLED microdisplays. The headset is customized using a 3D face scan. Bigscreen has notified the first customers in the US that the scan is now available. The company is now starting production of the VR headset. US deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2023. The $1,000 price tag can be paid in installments. Tracking accessories like a base station or controller are not included.

Apple Vision Pro: Top strap may be sold separately

Apple Vision Pro feels too heavy after extended use, according to Apple's internal testing. To alleviate the problem, Apple has developed a second strap that goes over the wearer's head (see image). However, the company is considering selling the top strap as an extra accessory rather than including it in the box. This would certainly be a controversial move, considering the $3,500 price tag of the device.

Meta improves Quest Pro eye tracking

The Meta Quest Pro has received software update number 55. Among other things, it states: "We’ve improved eye tracking on Quest Pro to make it more accurate across a broader field of view and during expressions like winking". Meta also notes that eye tracking calibration can be repeated at any time: "For the most accurate eye tracking, you can always recalibrate by going to Movement Tracking in Settings, then Eye tracking, then Calibrate eye tracking".
