VR training is making fruit processing more efficient and cost-effective - study

A study explores the use of virtual reality in agriculture. Companies in the agricultural industry could use VR training to increase the efficiency of employee training. They could learn in a VR simulation of the work environment without using physical resources. In a usability test, participants reported a high level of immersion and realism, and successfully completed the tasks set for them. The results suggest that VR training is effective for training the correct selection of shock-frozen berries, for example.

Microsoft Teams will soon enable immersive 3D meetings with avatars

Microsoft is integrating its mixed reality platform, Microsoft Mesh, into Microsoft Teams. This enables immersive 3D meetings and events with avatars within Teams. Spatial audio and integrated audio zones enable multiple simultaneous conversations in the same room. Although a VR headset is not required for 3D teamwork, the experience is much more immersive. The Mesh platform is expected to be introduced to Teams in January next year. Despite the integration, Microsoft Mesh will remain a standalone platform.
