Augmented World Expo (AWE) has announced the finalists for the 2024 Auggie Awards. Launched in 2010, the awards recognize the best solutions and innovations in AR, VR, and mixed reality.

According to AWE, the 15th edition of the awards received a record number of nominations. With four new categories, this is the largest Auggie Awards competition ever.

Finalists in the 19 categories range from large corporations to individual AR/VR developers and creators. The categories include "Best Art or Film," "Best Climate Change Solution," "Best Collaboration Tool," "Best Game or Toy," "Best Headworn Device," and "Best Web3 Implementation.

In the "Best Art or Film" category, projects such as "CUT, CRUSH, DECAY: A Mixed Reality Dance Installation" by Future Arts and "JFK Memento: An Immersive Chronicle of the Assassination" by TARGO.

Finalists for "Best Enterprise Solution" include solutions from Campfire, Lenovo, Morita Digital Solution XR powered by STYLY, and Trimble. The Best Headworn Device category includes products such as Meta Quest 3, Pico 4 Enterprise, Varjo XR-4 and Vuzix Z100 Smart Glasses.

Winners will receive a trophy designed by artist Sigal Arad Inbar. For those who did not make the final cut this year, there is still a chance to win awards such as Best in Show, Start-Up to Watch, or the AWEsome Award for outstanding achievement on the show floor during AWE USA.

CONTEXT

The Best of 50 Years of XR

AWE 2024 itself will take place June 18-20 in Long Beach, California, celebrating the event's 15th anniversary. Highlights include an XR History Museum with over 80 historic AR/VR devices spanning 50 years and the introduction of an XR Hall of Fame for pioneers such as John Carmack and Gabe Newell. In total, the conference will feature more than 500 expert speakers across 14 tracks. All events will be live AI translated into over 75 languages.
