Samsung's first smart glasses reportedly weigh 41 grams, in 26 frame and colour versions

Samsung's first smart glasses weigh about 41 grams with standard lenses, according to SammyGuru, which also counts 26 frame and colour versions across the two eyewear brands building them. Samsung has published no weight, no price and no release date, so this is a report rather than a spec.

The report is that site's own, bylined to Jeff Springer on October 12 and sourced in its own words to "what SammyGuru has learned". Where it overlaps with figures Samsung has published, it matches. Samsung's own July 22 release promised up to nine hours on a single charge with up to seven additional full charges from the charging case, which is where the report's nine hours on the glasses and 72 hours with the case come from, and the same release names the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform.

41 grams would undercut every earlier figure

The numbers circulating before this were heavier. The report puts earlier Korean reports at around 46 grams and renders leaked in April at roughly 50 grams, and says prescription lenses add weight, with the exact figure varying by model.

Samsung has stayed away from the number itself. When a November sales window surfaced at the start of October, it arrived with no weight and no price attached, and nothing has changed on that since.

26 versions, and Warby Parker's three have names

The count splits 16 and 10. Gentle Monster has six frame shapes in 16 versions, the report says, including the first non-black options seen so far in light grey, pale lilac, burgundy and cream, with those shape and colour descriptions the outlet's own rather than Samsung's names for them.

Warby Parker's three styles do have names: Alden, Reid and Wren. Alden and Wren come in Pine, a dark green, and Saddle, a reddish brown, with Reid in Jet Black, and each combination is offered with clear lenses or as sunglasses, which makes 10. Warby Parker also gets its own navy charging case.

Add the two together and 26 is the total, which is 26 frame and lens combinations across two brands rather than 26 separate products. Samsung has shown one design from each brand. Its July release describes a slim Gentle Monster frame in black, pairing a straight upper rim with softly rounded lower edges, and a Warby Parker style with a subtly upswept brow line in a rich brown.

What else the report lists

The rest of the reported hardware:

  • Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1
  • 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage
  • A 12MP camera recording 3K video at 30fps
  • Two open-ear speakers and four microphones
  • IPX4, with the charging case unrated

There is no display, so answers come back through the speakers. The report puts sales in November, with Gentle Monster's glasses in South Korea and the US and Warby Parker's in the US only, sold through each brand's own stores and websites plus Samsung Experience Stores in the US.

Galaxy-specific features need a recent Galaxy S, Z Fold or Z Flip running One UI 9 or later, the report says, and watch features a Galaxy Watch on Wear OS 7 or later, with basic compatibility extending to other Android phones and to iPhone. Samsung's July release points the same way on the watch, noting that gesture interactions are provided only through the Watch9.

Samsung has confirmed none of the rest. The nearest dated official trace of the hardware remains a regulatory one, after two Samsung devices described as Smart Glasses cleared the FCC on September 27.

Samsung has still not published a weight. The report says that at Galaxy Unpacked in July it would only call them lighter than most AI glasses. A number to put against that is the one thing it has kept back.
