Mothergunship: Forge swapped Unreal 4 for Unreal 5.7, and turned on Quest hand tracking
Mothergunship: Forge has changed engine. Terrible Posture Games says its October 15 update is "a behind-the-scenes massive upgrade to the core engine from Unreal 4 to Unreal 5.7", and that it ships with full hand tracking on Meta Quest, two new modes and a tutorial redone for playing without controllers.

Terrible Posture gives a reason for the jump. It says Unreal 4 had "been a massive limiter in what we could do with the game", and it calls the switch an absurd leap in technology for a studio of its size.
The hand tracking is not a menu toggle. The studio describes it as a "full hand tracking implementation on Meta Quest platforms with automatic detection, allowing for seamlessly switching between hands and controllers", with "a fully redone tutorial-ization to onboard folks who want to play without controllers".
Walkabout Mini Golf added Quest hand tracking on October 15 too, which it labels experimental, in the same update that brought 36 holes on Planet Xylodon. Terrible Posture calls its own implementation full.
Ascension Mode takes over from the hardest difficulty
Ascension Mode is aimed at players who have finished the game. The studio says it "essentially replaces previous hardest mode as the -best- way to test your skills", adding more modifiers to each run for what it calls bragging-rights progression.
Daily Mode is the other addition. It "updates nightly with a new leaderboard" and carries modifiers the studio calls wacky and sometimes ridiculous. Which modifiers, and how many, the post does not say.
The rest is unitemised. The post promises "a ton of polish, balancing fixes, bug fixes, and connection fixes that we've been wanting to tackle for far too long", and names none of them.

The last patch note on the hub was August 2024
This is the first patch note on the game's Steam hub since "Crash fix and additional languages" on August 5, 2024. The only post in between is dated November 14, 2025 and promotes another Terrible Posture game, Good Boy, a co-op horror comedy for up to six players, which now sits on Steam under the name Burgle Supply Company. Before that the hub runs back through 2023 hotfixes and a stability update.
The studio named the update after its players rather than its contents, and says the game's success "has been almost entirely due to players word-of-mouth". It concedes that the result is "a silly name, but accurate", and its opening line is "It's been awhile since we updated Mothergunship: Forge".
Mothergunship: Forge came out on June 16, 2022 and costs $19.99 on Steam, where its listing is tagged VR Only with online co-op and captions. Its own store copy sells it as a "VR FPS roguelite follow up to MOTHERGUNSHIP", and the hook is still bolting gun parts together into something absurd.
We wrote about how the game lets you build weapons in March 2022, before it launched. The post gives no build number for the Quest version, which is where the hand tracking lands.
Terrible Posture says nothing about what Unreal 5.7 costs to run. The Steam listing's minimum specification still asks for a Core i5-7500 or Ryzen 5 1600, 12GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 or RX 580 with 6GB of VRAM, over SteamVR or OpenXR, on 64-bit Windows 10.
Nothing in the update mentions Steam Frame or PS VR2 either, and Unreal 5.7 is the only version number in it.
