Squingle Arcade now sells you infinite Energy, and says it stays free to play

Squingle Arcade has added a one-time purchase that takes the wait for Energy out of a free-to-play VR puzzle game. VRAL Games says Limitless is "an optional one-time purchase that gives you infinite Energy across the whole game" and that "Squingle Arcade stays free to play", in an October 15 update that also opens a new realm.

No price is published for it. The game is listed free to play on Steam with the In-App Purchases tag, the post gives no figure, and the store page tells players to look for an infinity symbol inside the game.

Limitless promises no waiting between attempts

VRAL Games does not spell out what Energy gates or how quickly it refills. The store page says Limitless means "No waiting between attempts, no counting lives", which is as far as it goes in describing the mechanic it is now selling an exit from.

The Liquid Realm adds 20 free levels

The same update brings the Liquid Realm, where "sections of the maze now float free in space, and the only way to reach them is to ride the Spheres", by the developer's description. Twenty Liquid levels are included free in the main campaign.

A second purchase goes further. VRAL Games calls it the Liquid Campaign DLC and says it "adds 20 more Liquid levels in a dedicated campaign, available from the main menu", again with no price in the post and no DLC entry of its own on the Steam page.

Squingle Arcade is also listed with neither Steam Achievements nor Steam Leaderboards, where the original Squingle carries 40 achievements and leaderboards of its own, although the sequel's store page promises global leaderboards and asynchronous challenges on each level once you earn a gold medal.

The original Squingle took the other route

The first Squingle arrived in July 2021 and is still on Steam at $19.99 in the US as a single paid purchase, and it reached Meta Quest in a new edition in 2024 after a mixed reality update for Quest 3 in 2023. Both games carry the same two names, Ben Outram as developer and VRAL Games as publisher, so the free-to-play sequel is a change of model rather than a change of studio. The 2024 re-release also came with Squingle Mini at $1 for the first ten levels, so a cut-price way in is not new here.

The sequel asks you to guide twin revolving orbs through morphing 3D mazes, with races against your own ghost on each level. VRAL Games names Kururin and Tetris Effect as its reference points, and the game is listed VR Only, like the original. Steam has it as a SteamVR title that works with Valve Index and with Meta Quest headsets through a PC.

Squingle Arcade launched on September 9 and this is the first update VRAL Games has announced since. It has published no price for Limitless or for the Liquid Campaign DLC.
