New Augmented Reality Center Supported by Epic Games

The Augmented Reality Center (ARC) at Oakland University in Michigan is a partnership between the university, the College for Creative Studies (CCS), and various industry stakeholders. It is supported by Epic Games through the MegaGrant program. The goal is to work with faculty and industry experts to introduce students to the use of real-time technologies in manufacturing. The "fourth industrial revolution" is creating new job profiles that require augmented reality expertise, Epic writes. By working with educational institutions, the industry hopes to create a growing pool of skilled workers for these fields.

Apple Vision Pro: Very limited quantities - because of Sony?

Sony makes the OLED panels that Apple uses for Vision Pro. However, Sony reportedly has a production capacity of only 900,000 units per year. Apple needs two displays per VR/AR headset, which would severely limit the number of headsets. To increase the number of headsets, and possibly deliver a cheaper version later, Apple will need more suppliers or Sony will have to increase production. Sony is said to have turned down such a request. Apple has apparently already revised its sales target sharply downwards.
