VR survival shooter Into the Radius 2 launches in early access this summer

Explore the surreal world of the Pechorsk Zone in Into the Radius 2, collecting artifacts and overcoming perils in the new co-op mode.

FACTS

Estonian developer studio CM Games has released a first teaser trailer for the sequel to the VR survival shooter Into the Radius. The trailer gives a glimpse into the revised graphics, the arsenal of weapons and the introduction of a co-op mode for up to four players. Into the Radius 2 is expected to be released in early access for PC VR on Steam in the summer of 2024.

The sequel returns you to the surreal and dangerous world of the Pechorsk Safe Zone, where deadly anomalies and sinister enemies lurk. Popular elements from the original, such as the detailed weapon system, extensive loot management and free exploration of the menacing environment, are retained and complemented by new features.

One of the biggest new features in Into the Radius 2 is the co-op mode, which allows up to four players to face the dangers of the Pechorsk Zone together. The various weapons have been carefully designed for this mode and have unique features and handling. With the help of attachments, sights and stocks, they can be adapted to your personal playing style. However, regular maintenance and care is essential to keep the weapons in perfect condition.

Your base also serves as a central hub for trade, equipment production, and planning. You must use your resources wisely, as each item has a value. For example, the artifacts scattered throughout the zone will give you an edge in the fight against the lurking horrors.

CONTEXT

Inspired by games and literature about the Zone

Into the Radius is inspired by the shooter trilogy S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which in turn is based on the science fiction novel Picnic by the Roadside (1971) and its film adaptation Stalker (1979). Both works share a common theme: surviving in a mysterious zone and collecting valuable artifacts.

The developers built the game from the ground up for virtual reality. It has received thousands of positive reviews on Steam and in the Quest Store. With the sequel, CM Games aims to further develop the brand in terms of gameplay and graphics.

As with its predecessor, the studio is focusing on working closely with the community during the early access period. This approach could turn out to be the key to incorporating feedback and suggestions from players early on to create the best possible VR survival experience.
