VR experts Pimax invest $2.5M in racing game developer Motorsport Games

VR headset manufacturer Pimax is strengthening its commitment to sim racing with an investment worth millions.
VR headset manufacturer Pimax has made a $2.5 million investment in Motorsport Games, the developer behind racing titles like Le Mans Ultimate, rFactor 2, and Kartkraft. While the investment has been confirmed, neither company has shared specific details about potential joint projects or products.
Doubling down on VR racing simulation
Le Mans Ultimate, Motorsport Games' latest release and the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship, already offers VR support. The game has garnered nearly 6,500 Steam reviews, maintaining a "mostly positive" rating on the platform.
For Pimax, investing in a racing sim developer makes strategic sense. Their high-end Crystal Super and more affordable Crystal Light headsets are particularly well-suited for simulation experiences, thanks to their high pixel density and crystal-clear displays. A closer partnership with a simulation-focused studio could lead to important new PC VR content, potentially even Pimax-exclusive titles.
The company reports that the Crystal Super launch has been successful, with shipments of their new flagship headset beginning last week to positive user feedback. Pimax isn't slowing down — they've already unveiled their next product, the slim Dream Air high-end VR headset featuring an 8K Micro OLED display, late last year.
Expanding their VR footprint
This investment in Motorsport Games aligns with Pimax's broader expansion strategy. The VR manufacturer recently secured approximately $13 million in funding, with Zhuji Jingkai Capital Investment leading the round.
Pimax's growth trajectory has been impressive. The company has reportedly doubled its revenue each year for the past three years. Perhaps most notably, Pimax has successfully expanded beyond its Chinese origins — about 80% of its user base now comes from international markets.
