The Stanley Parable and other indie gems get a VR mod
Gaming offers much more than GTA and Co. The VR modder Raicuparta makes great indie titles playable in VR.
The so-called flatscreen to VR modding community is a lively scene and brings more and more 2D games into virtual reality. At the same time, more and more smaller titles are making the leap to the VR headset.
VR modder Raicuparta is dedicated to porting valuable indie games. After the critics’ favorite Outer Wilds and the indie insider tip Firewatch, Raicuparta Ende is now bringing the philosophical cult game The Stanley Parable to virtual reality.
A game that plays with you
The Stanley Parable is about a simple office worker, Stanley, who gets to the bottom of the mysterious disappearance of his co-workers. In his role, you explore the office complex and come into conflict with the narrator, who has an entirely different story in mind for you.
The game deals in a funny and ingenious way with the theme of freedom of action – both in games and in life, and thus gains a philosophical dimension.
The Stanley Parable was first released in 2013, and in the spring of 2022 the ultra-deluxe version was released, which includes new content, decisions and secrets.
The Stanley Parable: VR mod is still in development
Raicuparta’s VR mod builds on this new version, which you’ll need to buy on Steam to experience the game in VR.
The first version of the VR mod was released on July 10, and today Raicuparta released the first update with numerous bug fixes and improvements.
The VR modder emphasizes that this is an early version and calls on players to test as many paths as possible and check for bugs.
More information about the VR mod can be found on Raicuparta’s Patreon page. For access to this and other VR mods a monthly support is required. Starting at one Euro you are in.
