Duran Duran, Bryan Adams and six more 80s acts join Synth Riders in a new VR music pack

Synth Riders has a new eight-song pack built around 1980s radio favorites, with tracks from Duran Duran, Bryan Adams and Kim Wilde among the additions. The 80s Mixtape: Vice Wave DLC is available now for the VR rhythm game on SteamVR, Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2.

Developer Kluge Interactive says the complete pack costs $13.99 in the US, while individual tracks can be purchased for $1.99 each. It is an add-on to Synth Riders, so buyers need the base game on their chosen platform.

The release is the third entry in the game's 80s Mixtape series. Kluge says its team mapped each song across difficulty levels, pairing different note patterns and movement with the music rather than simply adding the tracks to a playlist.

These are the eight tracks in Vice Wave

The developer's announcement lists the complete selection:

  • Kim Wilde: Kids in America
  • The Outfield: Your Love
  • Bryan Adams: Run to You
  • Twisted Sister: I Wanna Rock
  • Yes: Owner of a Lonely Heart
  • The Cars: Shake It Up
  • Duran Duran: Rio
  • Cutting Crew: (I Just) Died in Your Arms

Buying the complete pack at the announced US price is less expensive than buying all eight individually at $1.99 each. Store prices, taxes and availability may vary, and players who only want one or two songs can choose the individual releases instead.

What the pack adds to the rhythm game

Synth Riders asks players to move their hands to meet incoming notes and follow flowing rails in time with the music. The studio says Vice Wave includes mappings at every difficulty, with different patterns for slower tracks and the more energetic rock songs.

The release adds songs rather than a separate game. Existing players can keep using the main library and add this selection if they want the new tracks. It also follows earlier licensed packs in the broader 80s Mixtape series, so the new tracklist is the important thing to check before buying.

Kluge's Steam bundle page lists the pack and its individual components. The studio names SteamVR, Quest and PS VR2 for this release; Synth Riders itself is available on additional platforms, but that does not automatically confirm the timing of this particular pack on each one.

As with any paid music DLC, check the supported headset and the store account used for your copy before purchasing. The developer has not said that a purchase on one storefront unlocks it on all the others.
