CONTEXT

A VR classic gets a relaunch

MLB Home Run Derby VR has been in the game libraries of PC VR gamers since 2018, and also appeared on the first Playstation VR. The game currently has a “mostly positive” rating on Steam VR and is available for just under $30. For Meta Quest, MLB Home Run Derby has so far only been available on the early access platform App Lab, where it has a rating of just over four out of five stars.

Curious: At the launch in 2018, the developers held a VR tournament during a fan festival. They were looking for the best VR hitters, who competed using an HTC Vive Pro and a real baseball bat equipped with Vive trackers. Two kids made it to the finals, beating the big boys with their lightning-fast reflexes.
