'Existing saves won't be compatible': Selaco's free 19-map expansion arrives November 13
Selaco's next free update will add 19 campaign maps on November 13, but it also comes with a warning for anyone in the middle of a run: existing saves will not be compatible with the new version.
Developer Altered Orbit Studios calls the expansion The Machines of War. It continues the early access shooter with a second chapter, new enemies and weapons, and a revised first chapter. The studio estimates the new maps will add six to eight hours of content.
Players do have options. The developer says they can finish their current run before the update, return to the old build through Steam's Betas menu, or start again after the changes arrive. Those who have completed the original campaign can jump straight to the new chapter.

How to keep playing an existing save
To return to the earlier build, right-click Selaco in the Steam library, open Properties, select Betas and choose CHAPTER1, according to the developer's announcement. That lets players finish their existing playthrough on the older version before switching back to the update.
Altered Orbit also says weapon-kit unlocks carry over for everyone. That is separate from the incompatible campaign saves: players who restart should not need to earn those unlocks again. The studio recommends replaying the first chapter because its updated levels provide context for what follows, but says completing it again is optional for players who have already finished it.
New maps, weapons and a persistent pursuer
The new chapter expands the story around Selaco's factions and gives protagonist Dawn a voice. For part of the campaign she will have a companion, though the studio says players who prefer to fight alone can tell the ally to stay put. A machine will also hunt Dawn through the chapter.
Alongside new enemy types, Altered Orbit lists a minigun, a jetpack and a heavy machine gun that fires explosive rounds. Players will be able to pick up limited-use heavy weapons during combat and deploy tools including small turrets, drones and mobile cover.
The developer says enemy AI has been rewritten, with patrolling enemies intended to give players more choice over when an encounter begins. It also describes changes to lighting and asset streaming, plus improved navigation and revised first-chapter set pieces. These are developer descriptions of the upcoming update, not independent performance measurements.
Selaco is currently available in early access on PC. The Machines of War is a free update for the game, with full patch notes and a trailer due at launch.
