Real VR Fishing moved both of its October 20 sharks into the October 13 update

Both sharks that Devs United Games had planned for October 20 in Real VR Fishing turned up a week early, in the October 13 update that also started the game's Halloween event and added a free map. "Thanks to your support, both sharks originally planned for October 20 are included in today's October 13 update," the studio's announcement says.

The map, Clear Creek, is free and marks the game's seventh anniversary. Devs United Games does not name either shark.

They follow a September event built around the same subject. The studio ran a Prehistoric Sharks fossil hunt, where collecting fossils in a map unlocked it, and its Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic stages stayed playable through October 6.

Candy caps at five a day

The event brings a currency with it. Players "can earn Trick or Treat Candy while fishing" and spend it on "previous Halloween rewards" at "up to 5 Candy per day", which is how someone who missed an earlier Halloween can get those items.

The rewards come in two tiers. Catching fish during the event earns the Pumpkin Costume and a freshwater rod, and completing the Halloween Fishdex earns a saltwater rod and a title. The announcement sets no end date for the event.

Clear Creek is the second of three free maps

Clear Creek is part of a run the studio promised in September: a new map with new fish species each month across September, October and November. The studio put it as "3 brand-new stages, completely free" to mark seven years, and September's landed in the game's US West Free region with two new species. Those three are free, unlike the paid location packs such as the second volume of European spots.

The seventh anniversary is counted from the game's launch on September 12, 2019, the date Devs United Games uses in the in-game Angler's Logbook. The anniversary event, which the studio announced on September 17, also brought Steam Frame support, with the studio saying the game "fully supports it right out of the gate" and fixing key mapping that had been stopping progress on HTC Vive and Valve Index.

The aquarium fix comes with a reset button

Devs United Games says the fish arrangement issue in the aquarium is fixed. A player who hits it again can press Empty in the Aquarium UI to clear the whole tank, after which the fish return to the Fishdex.

Real VR Fishing costs $19.99 in the US on Steam, which lists Devs United Games, Inc as both developer and publisher and the game as single-player with online co-op. It arrived there in December 2024, and the November map is the last of the three the studio has promised.
