Playstation VR 2: Beat Saber conquers the charts
Which PSVR 2 games sold the most in June 2023? Two VR classics reclaimed the top spot last month.
Back in May 2023, the VR rhythm game Beat Saber took the top spot on the PSVR-2 download charts, despite being released towards the end of the month. In June 2023, the VR classic was also the #1 top download for Playstation VR 2 in Europe, as well as the US and Canada.
This is followed by an old acquaintance. The online shooter Pavlov, which is already very popular on PC, climbed from 4th to 2nd place in both markets. Its standard maps and mods support cross-play with the PC version since June.
Beat Saber also dominates PSVR 2
Newcomer Hubris is #3 in Europe, but only #4 in the U.S. and Canada, so European customers seem to have a slightly greater preference for graphically elaborate and mediocre VR shooters than those on the American continent.
It's the other way around for the experimental VR classic Job Simulator. It ranks 3rd in North America (May: 7th) and 4th in Europe (May: 6th).
The rest of the top 10 shows once again that quality is winning out in virtual reality. In Europe, for example, the excellently ported Red Matter 2 is at number 5 and the wonderfully social Walkabout Minigolf is at number 8.
According to Sony, only titles purchased from the Playstation Store are listed in the top downloads. Game upgrades such as Resident Evil Village and Gran Turismo 7 are not included, nor are games purchased in bundles with hardware - including Horizon Call of the Mountain.
Retail purchases of PSVR 2 games are also not included. As a result, the download charts don't give a complete picture of game demand.
Strong VR games ahead?
After a summer slump with only a few highlights like the PSVR 2 exclusive Synapse, strong gaming months are expected to follow. At the PlayStation Showcase in May, Sony unveiled Capcom's VR mode for Resident Evil 4, which will include the entire game. Sony also showed off Vertigo Games' Arizona Sunshine 2 at the show.
A week later at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Meta showed off VR games that will also be coming to Playstation VR 2, including Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice, The 7th Guest VR and Bulletstorm VR.
