Playstation VR 2: Three hit games enter the charts
Which PSVR 2 games sold the most in May 2023? The winners are predictable.
May was a big month for Playstation VR 2.
The VR classic and multiplayer hit Walkabout Mini Golf was released on May 11th, along with the sequel to the fabulous puzzle game Fisherman's Tale, followed by the graphically stunning Red Matter 2 on May 18th, and the most successful VR game ever, Beat Saber, on May 24th. Finally, the horror roguelike Cosmodread was released on May 25th, a little known but really good VR game.
Although Beat Saber was only released towards the end of the month, it managed to take the top spot in both North America and Europe. On Playstation VR, the title has been #1 for years and still holds that position. Will the same thing happen with Playstation VR 2 and will Beat Saber be impossible to beat? We will see in the next few months.
PSVR 2 owners loved Golf and Space
Walkabout Mini Golf and Red Matter 2 shared the #2 and #3 spots on the PSVR 2 charts. Walkabout Mini Golf sold better in the US, while Red Matter 2 sold better in Europe. Another Fisherman's Tale strangely did not make it into the top ten.
The rest of the slots are, unsurprisingly, filled by the hits of the past few months: The tactical team shooter Pavlov, the graphically impressive kayaking simulation Kayak VR: Mirage and the boxing game Creed: Rise to Glory. The rhythm shooter Pistol Whip also held its own in the charts.
Sony promises a steady supply of games
May is expected to be followed by many more strong releases. At the Playstation Showcase, Resident Evil 4's VR mode was unveiled, which will include the full game, and Arizona Sunshine 2 and Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 were announced.
The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, which took place a week later, showcased a number of VR games that will also be coming to Playstation VR 2, including Vampire: The Masquerade - Justice, The 7th Guest VR and Bulletstorm VR.
Playstation CEO Jim Ryan has previously promised that the Playstation VR 2 will get games for a long time to come. "We will continue to push forward so that those who purchase PS VR2 can enjoy it for a long time," Ryan said in an interview.
