Pinball FX VR launched Steam Frame-only, then Zen Studios said paid tables may be unavailable

Zen Studios released Pinball FX VR on Steam on October 14 at $9.99 in the US, and the store page says the game "supports the Steam Frame hardware only". Within hours the studio reported a fault in how the game recognises the tables players have paid for.

Zen Studios says it is "currently experiencing a technical issue affecting DLC recognition in the game", that the base game and its three included tables "should work properly", and that "some other purchased DLCs may be temporarily unavailable". The notice went up at 14:27 UTC on October 14, signed "Balti & The Zen Team".

The three included tables are Pinball Noir, Sky Pirates: Treasures of the Clouds and Curse of the Mummy. Zen Studios says its team is "actively working on a fix as quickly as possible", and puts no time on it.

Twenty add-on packs carry the rest of the library

Everything beyond those three tables is a separate purchase. The store page lists 20 add-on packs between $7.99 and $19.99 in the US, with Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure and the Williams Pinball volumes at the top of that range, single Williams tables such as The Addams Family and Twilight Zone at $14.99, and Goat Simulator Pinball among the $7.99 packs.

Zen Studios said on September 3 that the add-on tables would carry "pricing aligned with the Meta version", and that "All 42 tables currently available in Pinball FX VR on Meta Quest are planned to be available at launch". That announcement also introduced "Complete Bundles", a 40% discount for players who own the same tables in the non-VR Pinball FX, which the studio said are "not timed offers".

Quest purchases do not come across

Zen Studios brought Pinball FX VR to Quest in 2025, and nothing bought there transfers. "Unfortunately, transfers from Meta Quest to Steam Frame will not be possible," the studio wrote on September 3, calling cross-platform transfer "something we are not allowed to offer" while different stores are "operated by different service providers separately". A player who owns tables on Quest and moves to a Steam Frame pays for them again.

Mixed reality did not make the launch either. Zen Studios said the Steam version targets visuals "similar to the Meta Quest 3 version" and uses the studio's "Normal" physics, and that "we won't be able to include the Mixed Reality feature at launch".

Steam Frame is the only headset it runs on

The store page lists Pinball FX VR as "VR Only" and limits it to Steam Frame hardware, which rules out other SteamVR headsets rather than other storefronts, so a Valve Index or a PC-tethered Meta Quest 3 will not run it.

That leaves the base game and its three tables as the part Zen Studios said should work at launch, and its October 14 notice puts no time on the rest.
