New trailers for Behemoth, Ghostbusters VR, and Horizon

New trailers for Behemoth, Ghostbusters VR, and Horizon

During the Game Awards, there were new trailers for Behemoth, Ghostbusters VR, and Horizon Call of the Mountain.

Behemoth is the new VR game from Skydance Interactive, the studio behind The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners 1 & 2 (review).

It was officially announced at Meta Connect 2022 with a short cinematic trailer. The second trailer, presented during the Game Awards, does not show any gameplay scenes either. But, it is much longer and hints at the game's direction for the first time.

This trailer shows battle scenes in a harsh winter landscape, daredevil climbing, cave exploration, and one of the eponymous giants. The goal: find a cure for the disease that plunged the once mighty empire into ruin and drove its citizens mad. Visually, the title is strongly reminiscent of Skyrim and Shadow of the Colossus.

The official website describes the story-heavy VR action RPG and survival game as follows:

"In Behemoth, take on the role of a diseased wanderer lost in the frigid Forsaken Lands. Overcome dangerous environments, deadly warriors, and towering Behemoths using immersive, weighty VR combat and life-like physics. Travel through strange, otherworldly environments and overcome all, no matter how large, that stands in your way."

Behemoth has a release window in late 2023 for Meta Quest 2 (review), Playstation VR 2, and PC VR.

Ghostbusters VR: Trailer shows first game scenes

Also on display was the first gameplay trailer for Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord, in development by nDreams and Sony Pictures Virtual Reality. Ghostbusters VR was first announced in April at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2022.

In the game's campaign, you're in charge of building a new Ghostbusters headquarters in San Francisco. Hunt ghosts alone or with up to three other players.

The new trailer shows tracking down ghosts with the PKE meter, banishing them with proton beams, and setting up ghost traps. The eponymous chief villain is also briefly playable at the end.

The graphics are kept simple in a quest-typical way. It remains to be seen whether the PSVR2 version offers more in terms of graphics. We expect Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord for Meta Quest 2 and Playstation VR2 in 2023.

New scenes from Horizon: Call of the Mountain

Last but not least, there was a new teaser for the PSVR2 showcase game Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which Sony confirmed as a launch title.

The VR-exclusive new Horizon adventure sees you through the eyes of Ryas, a former Shadow Carja warrior. Ryas is a masterful climber and archer. In his role, you climb mountains and take down formidable machines like the Thunder Jaw.

During your journey, you master various tools and weapons and use materials you find for crafting additional equipment. Along the way, you meet new and old Horizon characters, including Aloy herself.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain has a February 22, 2023 release date for Playstation VR 2.
