FACTS

Immersed Visor is a 4K-per-eye, work-centric VR headset that aims to compete with Apple's Vision Pro as a spatial computer. With eye, head, and hand-tracking with access to up to five high-resolution virtual screens, and a high-quality mixed reality view, Immersed might offer an experience similar to that of Vision Pro.

The Visor's operating system is based on the Immersed app, which is a virtual desktop for the Meta Quest 3, HTC Vive Focus 3, and Pico 4. You can use the Immersed app on your VR headset to connect to your Windows PC or Mac, allowing remote access to desktop apps in VR.

Immersed is offering a new subscription model called Visor Plus that lowers the initial cost of its Visor headset to just $400. The price before this offer was $950, and you can still buy the hardware without a subscription until February 16, 2024.

Customers that have already preordered, or preorder at the full price while that option is still available, will receive a free 12-month subscription to Visor Plus. It works out to be a savings of $170 over the course of a year, but at a higher upfront cost.

After 12 months, you will own the Visor and can continue using the headset and the Immersed app without renewing. You'll still to get software updates and have access to up to five virtual screens for spatial computing.

With a Visor Plus subscription, you get access to Curator, an AI assistant, customizable workspaces, a higher-capacity three-hour battery, and more. If you choose the $400 option, you have a choice of a 12-month Visor Plus subscription at $60 per month, or a 24-month subscription at $40 per month.

CONTEXT

Immersed is a VR developer that recently announced it was launching its own VR headset. The Visor uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, a higher-performance version of the chip used in the Meta Quest 3.

Beyond 4K displays and good performance, the Visor's form factor is remarkable. It's expected to weigh about as much as your phone. Priced under $1,000, it sounds almost too good to be true.

However, Immersed is a well-established company with a large user base and I have no reason to doubt that the Visor is in development. If you're skeptical that the Immersed Visor is a real product, check out my article that delves into what we know and what we don't about this intriguing headset.

Immersed's headset is currently a productivity device, but there's an intriguing possibility that the Visor might get SteamVR connectivity in the future.

Preorders of the Visor will arrive in the order received, likely before the end of 2024, with the Founder's Edition expected to ship mid-2024. You can learn more about the Visor Plus subscription and preorder the Immersed Visor VR headset here.
