After a four-year hiatus, the popular science fiction series Black Mirror is returning. The anthology series known for its dystopian mind games is getting a sixth season. Netflix has also already released the first images and a teaser trailer.

Black Mirror returns with Breaking Bad star

The sixth season is expected to bring some changes. Series creator Charlie Brooker promises several new elements to keep the show fresh for him and viewers.

Among the cast are a number of prominent new faces, including Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, last seen in the now-canceled sci-fi series Westworld. Other newcomers include Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara and Zazie Beetz.

New concept aims for more variety

Black Mirror has continued to reinvent itself since its arrival on Netflix in 2016. Brooker broke new ground with the interactive Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, one of the best Sci-Fi-Movies on Netflix, which let viewers decide how the movie unfolded. Now, he promises more variety than ever for season six.

The producer deliberately wanted to turn his own ground rules on their head and show new elements in season six. The stories are tonally still very much Black Mirror, but with some daring and more variety, Brooker said.

Black Mirror season six starts in June

Season six is rumored to be bigger overall, with more episodes than before. Whether Black Mirror will be as extensive as Stranger Things, and whether the season will be released in its entirety or in parts, remains to be seen. The streaming service has not yet announced any details.

The specific release date also remains open, only June as the start month is known. Until then, fans will have to make do with the official teaser for the time being.
