Meta Quest 3 gets native 3D camera support with immerGallery

With immerGallery, you can now easily capture 3D photos and 3D videos with Meta Quest 3, thanks to Meta's new passthrough camera API.
The immerGallery update 1.3.5. brings a native 3D camera feature. It allows you to take stereoscopic photos and videos with the passthrough cameras of the Quest 3 and 3S. Check out the video below to see how it works.
The 3D camera feature uses Meta's new Passthrough Camera API, which moved out of experimental status on Tuesday and is now available to Horizon Store apps. This makes immerGallery one of the first apps in the official store to implement the API via an update.
I tried the 3D camera feature, but found the resolution of 1,280 x 960 pixels per eye to be insufficient in terms of quality. The rather low resolution limit is set by Meta and will hopefully be increased in the future along with the frame rate (currently 30 FPS).
A good alternative: Quest Games Optimizer
A higher quality but equally easy way to use Quest 3 as a 3D camera is the paid Quest Games Optimizer tool (see the article about QGO's 3D camera feature), which unlike immerGallery is not available in the Horizon Store and can only be installed on Quest 3 via sideloading.
If you're willing to put in the effort, you can get even better recording quality with immerGallery. The VR app supports an "advanced" 3D recording mode that doesn't rely on the passthrough camera API, but instead requires you to enter ADB commands, making it considerably more cumbersome to use. On the plus side, it allows recording at the maximum resolution of 1,920 × 1,920 pixels per eye and 60 frames per second.
You can purchase immerGallery in the Horizon Store.
