FACTS

Developer CM Games has rolled out the largest update so far for Into the Radius 2, their immersive VR survival shooter. Dubbed the “Ghost Town” update, this release brings a slate of new features and significant changes to the game.

The centerpiece of the update is the addition of "Pechorsk Outskirts," a newly playable, city-like area designed for deeper exploration. Players can now extensively customize their loadout, thanks to fully configurable chest harnesses, armored vests, and backpacks. This is a much-requested feature that adds a new layer to how you approach each run.

To further boost immersion, the team has overhauled the game’s audio — expect revamped background sounds and new enemy voice lines that make every encounter a bit more tense. The arsenal is expanding as well: the G36, SVD, and Fort-17 have been added, giving players three new weapon options. Alongside this, the progression system and core game balance have been reworked from the ground up, and there are fresh encounters waiting in the radius zone.

For a first look at the new city environment, check out the official teaser video.

CONTEXT

Into the Radius 2: The Sequel to a VR Cult Classic

Into the Radius 2 builds on the surreal, dangerous world of the Pechorsk anomaly, offering a VR survival experience focused on atmospheric exploration, detailed weapon mechanics, and a risk-filled loot system. Like the original, the sequel throws players into zones teeming with anomalies and hostile threats — but this time, with even more depth.

The original Into the Radius quietly became one of VR’s sleeper hits, earning a reputation as a must-play title for fans of the genre. The sequel launched in Early Access on Steam in July 2024 and has quickly picked up momentum.

Beyond what returning players will recognize, Into the Radius 2 introduces a co-op mode (currently supporting two players, with plans to bump that up to four in upcoming updates). This opens up the experience for those who want to brave the anomaly with friends.

In addition, a version for Meta Quest 3 and 3S was recently announced. The Quest edition is set to launch in Early Access in Q2 2025 and will offer feature parity with the PC VR release, though some content will arrive on PC first before making its way to Quest.
