Hogwarts Legacy's new PC update gives Steam Deck OLED and Steam Machine players tailored settings

Hogwarts Legacy's latest PC patch has arrived with more than the previously announced DLSS 5 upgrade. Avalanche Software says it has added support for Steam Deck OLED and Steam Machine, including optimized graphics settings and a virtual keyboard.

The November 5 patch notes also list Intel XeSS Multi-Frame Generation support, an updated version of XeSS, and a fix for graphics options that could save incorrectly in some circumstances. The developer lists build 2153883 for Steam, the Epic Games Store and Windows PC.

The release follows the earlier announcement that NVIDIA's DLSS 5 neural rendering was coming to the game. That feature is now part of the patch, but it has specific NVIDIA hardware requirements and is switched off by default. The Steam Deck and Steam Machine settings are a separate part of the update, rather than a promise that DLSS 5 runs on those AMD-based devices.

A more tailored setup for Valve hardware

Avalanche's notes specifically name Steam Deck OLED and Steam Machine when describing the optimized graphics settings and virtual keyboard. They do not list the individual settings in the patch summary or promise a particular frame rate, so players will still need to check the game's options and adjust them for their preferences.

The wording matters for owners of the original LCD Steam Deck: the notes name the OLED model, not a blanket list of every Deck variant. They also do not establish that other PC handhelds receive a dedicated preset. Players using those devices can still check the update, but should not assume a device-specific preset has been added for their model.

The on-screen keyboard is a practical addition for a game played from the couch or on a handheld. It means Valve hardware is explicitly mentioned alongside the graphics changes, rather than being left entirely to a player's own setup. How the game feels in a particular scene will still depend on the hardware and graphics choices.

NVIDIA and Intel graphics options both change

The update adds NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering for supported GPUs and updates NVIDIA upsampling. NVIDIA says Avalanche tuned the feature to enhance lighting and materials while preserving character identity. The developer says it is off by default and currently requires an RTX 50 Series GPU with GeForce Game Ready Driver 616.64 or newer.

Intel XeSS also gets an updated version and support for multi-frame generation. The notes do not specify compatible Intel GPU models for that feature, so owners should check the in-game options and Intel's current requirements before relying on it. Generated frames are distinct from frames rendered conventionally, and neither graphics feature guarantees a particular performance result.

The developer has also reduced the need to restart the game after changing certain frame-generation options and updated minimum-driver notifications. If a setting previously refused to stick, the fix for some graphics options saving incorrectly is worth checking after installing the patch.
