Google Vids is rolling out three free 15-second AI videos a month

Google Vids is getting a longer AI video option: people with a Google account or Workspace subscription can generate up to three 15-second videos a month at no additional cost, Google says.

The change comes with Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, Google’s updated video model. A duration control lets users choose clips from three to 15 seconds, while Google says the model follows visual references more consistently and offers more variety in generated speech.

The rollout began November 5, with Google estimating one to three days for the feature to appear on supported Workspace release schedules. The three-video allowance is a limit, not unlimited free generation; availability and allowances can depend on the account.

What the longer clips can do

Google Vids is a browser-based video creation tool. In its announcement, Google suggests using a 15-second scene for short promos or turning reference images into video.

The company says the new model does a better job keeping characters and products consistent when reference images are supplied. That is Google’s description, rather than a result we have independently tested; generated output can still need review and revision.

Google says the model’s native 15-second limit is up from 10 seconds for Omni 1.1. That increase concerns a generated clip, not a guarantee that every video made in Vids must fit within 15 seconds.

Vids, the Gemini app and the API have different access rules

Google’s Workspace announcement lists personal Google accounts and several eligible business, enterprise and education editions. It also says users with the AI Expanded Access add-on receive higher usage limits.

Google separately says the 15-second video option is rolling out in the Gemini app to Google AI Ultra subscribers. Developer API pricing is also separate: Google quotes $0.07 per second of 720p video for the model, not a charge for each of the three no-cost Vids generations.

To start, Google directs users to vids.new on desktop. Check the options and remaining allowance shown for your account, particularly if the new model has not appeared yet.
