One of the key features of the Apple Vision Pro announced at this year's WWDC is immersive TV on a virtual screen. During the presentation, it was also shown that the VR/AR headset can play 3D movies. Now it has been announced that “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” will be the first series shot in 3D for the Vision Pro.

3D series set in the MonsterVerse

“Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” is a science fiction series set in the MonsterVerse. This franchise creates a fictional universe around the popular monsters Godzilla, King Kong and other Kaijū monsters from the Japanese film company Tōhō K.K.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is said to revolve around a family involved in a secret organization called Monarch, which in turn is linked to mysterious titans. The series was shot in Apple's new Spatial Video format, according to podcaster and Screentimes founder Sigmund Judge.

3D-Monsters coming to Apple TV+

According to Judge, Monarch will appear on the streaming service Apple TV+, where it will be available in either regular 2D or 3D for the Vision Pro.

Judge also notes that a trailer is not expected in the near future: “Shoots began last September, and we’re in the middle of a writers strike, so I wouldn’t expect anything from this project for a while yet,” Judge said via Twitter.

The Apple Vision Pro aims to redefine the home with AR and VR, offering a range of entertainment options including a virtual movie screen in an immersive environment. In addition to Apple TV+, the streaming service Disney+ will also come to the Vision Pro to deliver immersive content.
