Ghosts of Tabor is already one of the biggest VR hits of the year
The VR game Ghosts of Tabor is making millions and hasn't even launched on the Quest Store yet.
Ghosts of Tabor is a post-apocalyptic extraction and survival shooter inspired by games like DayZ, Escape from Tarkov, and Arma. You'll explore vast maps alone or with others, hunting for loot and fighting against human and AI-controlled enemies.
You can loot captured equipment, weapons, ammunition, medicine, food, and water and bring it back to your personal bunker - as long as you make it to the extraction point alive. The game also features a crafting system, trading, and missions that unlock special items.
Ghosts of Tabor is off to a strong start
Ghosts of Tabor has been in Early Access on Steam and Meta Quest since March 2023. On Steam, it now has more than 3,000 positive reviews. On Meta Quest, it is the most rated game released this year, even though it hasn't even been released in the Quest Store yet.
Now, Combat Waffle Studios reports that the title has earned $3 million in revenue on Meta Quest's App Lab alone, not including Steam sales. In May, Ghosts of Tabor reached over 100,000 unique VR players across all available platforms.
The studio was founded in 2022 and is owned by United States war veterans. The team is currently hard at work on the title, releasing regular updates. The finished VR game is expected to be released in early 2024 on the Meta Quest Store, Steam, and PlayStation VR2, with many new features, maps, and core gameplay systems. Additional VR platforms (possibly Pico) will be announced at a later date.
