Gears of War brings back Guardian for its 20th anniversary, with E-Day Season 2 next
Gears of War: E-Day is bringing back Guardian for a two-week anniversary event, as the series celebrates 20 years. Players also get a new Horde Siege variant before Season 2: Legacy arrives on December 1.
The Coalition also announced a RAAM multiplayer character as a free anniversary gift for E-Day players, with claims starting November 7, the anniversary of the original game’s release.
There is one distinction for anyone picking up the news late: the character is free for E-Day players, not a free copy of the game. The studio’s announcement does not give a claim deadline, so check the game for current availability.

What E-Day players get for the anniversary
RAAM was the original Gears of War’s formidable Locust general, and his return gives players another character for E-Day multiplayer. In its anniversary announcement, The Coalition said players could claim the gift instantly by logging in starting November 7. It did not specify an end date, so check the game for current availability.

The free character is separate from the anniversary playlists. Guardian puts leaders at the center of a Versus match, while For the Queen changes Horde Siege by disabling the supply cache. Squads must rely on their loadouts rather than using that cache.
The developer describes the event as lasting two weeks, but the announcement does not specify an exact end time. The in-game playlists are the place to check which modes are available when you play.

Legacy follows in December
The Coalition says Season 2: Legacy begins December 1 and will revisit 20 years of Gears through maps, modes and multiplayer skins. It has shown one character look: Solemn Memories Dom, based on the suit Dominic Santiago wears in his photograph with Maria in Gears of War 2.
The announcement does not list every returning map or explain how each Season 2 cosmetic will be obtained. For PC players, E-Day is available on Steam for Windows; it is also available on Xbox. Online play requirements and access can vary by platform.
