Niantic Spatial, together with its 8th Wall platform, has teamed up with HTC’s Viverse to roll out an international developer competition spanning virtual reality, augmented reality, and cross-platform gaming. The “Forge the Future” Game Jam is calling on developers, designers, and students from around the world to create fresh, boundary-pushing game ideas. The event runs from May 12 to June 30, 2025.

“We’re thrilled to empower the next generation of creators with the tools, funding, and platform to shape the future of gaming,” said Joel Udwin, Product Director at Niantic Spatial. Partnering with Viverse means developers will have the chance to reach millions and experiment at the edge of what’s possible in real-world, cross-platform play.

The Viverse Creator Program backs 3D creators globally, working with talent across interactive storytelling, educational experiences, and even e-commerce. The top three winners of the competition will get fast-track access to the program, allowing them to distribute their 8th Wall-powered games directly through Viverse.

Up to $10,000 in Prizes — and more than just money

There’s more on the table than just prize money. All participants will get complimentary access to Niantic Studio on 8th Wall for the entire event. The competition is open to individuals and teams worldwide. The prize pool is solid: first place takes home $10,000, second place gets $6,000, and third place receives $4,000.

On top of that, there are special category prizes of $2,000 and $1,000. Winners don’t just walk away with cash — they also score invitations to the Viverse Creator Program. Throughout the Game Jam, participants can look forward to workshops, hands-on support, and access to exclusive industry events.
