Street Fighter vibes in VR: Final Fury hits Meta Quest & SteamVR this May

Pure arcade energy lands in VR: Final Fury lets you throw real punches from a first-person view. Drawing inspiration from legends like Street Fighter, the new VR brawler is launching this May.
Final Fury debuts in Early Access on May 8, 2025, for Meta Quest and SteamVR, priced at $9.99. If you grew up in arcades, the setup will feel instantly familiar — except now you’re in the ring. The game drops you into a first-person perspective, where every jab, block, and special move is performed with your own physical hand gestures. Only certain special attacks trigger a quick switch to a third-person camera, but otherwise, it’s all about being in the action.
Hands-on fights, six unique fighters, and cross-platform brawls
At launch, Final Fury features six fighters, each with their own signature moves and arenas. You can play offline, but the real draw is the cross-platform multiplayer, which uses rollback netcode to keep online matches smooth and responsive. Arcade mode lets you challenge the AI to unlock new fighters, arenas, and cosmetic upgrades.
From rhythm action to a full-on VR beat 'em up
Final Fury is the latest project from Kluge Interactive, the studio behind Synth Riders — a rhythm game that’s found a home on Meta Quest, Playstation VR 2, Steam, and Apple Vision Pro, and which just got a new Challengers update.
For its latest title, Kluge brought in fighting game legend Justin Wong — a nine-time EVO champion. His input shaped the game’s pacing, mechanics, and overall vibe, with the aim of delivering a fighting experience that appeals to both genre veterans and newcomers.
After early playtests, the dev team went back to the drawing board to rework the game’s core systems, dialing up the sense of actually being the fighter. If you want a deeper look at the process, there’s a detailed rundown on the Final Fury development blog.
