Beat Saber's new Shock Drop is a paid $1.99 track, and v1.45.2 fixes a note burst
Beat Saber's latest Shock Drop costs money. Beat Games added "APT." by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars to the game in update v1.45.2 on September 29, and Meta's own blog prices it: "The song is available now to add to your library for $1.99 USD."

Shock Drops are Beat Games' surprise single releases, and the studio's own patch notes list "APT." as one. Beat Games describes the song as co-written by both artists and the lead single from ROSÉ's debut album Rosie, and says it has over two billion streams on Spotify. That last figure is the studio's claim.
Not every new Beat Saber track costs money
A surprise release is not the same as a gift. Beat Games introduced the format with Eminem's "Houdini" in September 2024, and paid singles are not its only way of adding a song: update v1.44.3 on July 30 arrived with "Gone For Good" by Haywyre as a free track, and the eighth anniversary update v1.44.0 on May 28 carried free tracks too. "APT." is a paid one.
Meta gives the $1.99 as a US price and names no other region. Beat Games does not say in its patch notes whether the track is on every platform the game runs on, and gives no PS VR2 or PC figure for it.
Singles like this are how most of the catalogue reaches players. Beat Saber's Steam listing advertises more than 300 handcrafted songs while saying 60 or more come with the game, so the gap between those two numbers is paid content. The same listing is tagged VR Only, with online PvP and leaderboards. Our own count of Steam's best-selling VR games put Beat Saber third on October 2, seven years after its May 2019 launch there.
The patch also straightens out "I Like It" on Expert+
The other half of v1.45.2 is a mapping correction in a song players own. Beat Games says it fixed "the dot-note bursts at 0:40 and 3:30 in 'I Like It' on Expert+", which "left the left hand out of position". The same update fixes incorrect audio playing in the "NISSAN ALTIMA" preview.
Mappers get one fix too. In the Level Editor, Beat Games says VR controller trigger pulls were firing unintended clicks in the Beatmap Editor UI, and that has been corrected.
The patches have been arriving at a fair clip. Version v1.44.1 added "Zombie" by YUNGBLUD on June 25, v1.44.2 moved the game to Unity's Universal Render Pipeline on July 16, v1.45.0 brought Hip Hop Mixtape 2 on August 27, and on September 14 the studio moved to Unity 6000.3.19f1, an engine change it announced on its own rather than bundling into a content update.
The big update is still dated spring 2027
None of this is the overhaul the studio has been trailing. Beat Saber's biggest update so far, bringing Flux, 35 songs and controller-free play, is dated spring 2027, which leaves v1.45.2 as a single track plus housekeeping in the meantime.
The game is $19.99 on the Meta Horizon Store, per the same Meta blog post, and $19.99 on Steam in the US, carrying no Autumn Sale discount on a read of Steam's own price data at 20:53 UTC on October 2. At $1.99, the new track is a tenth of that.
