AR glasses manufacturer Xreal secures $60M in strategic fundraising
AR glasses maker Xreal has closed a new $60 million round of financing. This brings the company's total funding to $300 million. Investors include Alibaba, Nio Capital, Sequoia, Kuaishou and Gentle Monster among others. Xreal plans to invest the money in research, development, and factory expansion. The company recently unveiled the Xreal Air 2 Ultra, which is being marketed as an affordable alternative to Apple's Vision Pro. The price is $699 and pre-orders will start shipping in mid-October.
Tomb Raider 1 is now playable in Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality
Team Beef has released BeefRaiderXR, a VR adaptation of the classic Tomb Raider game. Version 1.0.0 is available for PC-VR, Meta Quest and Pico. BeefRaiderXR offers a unique first-person perspective in VR, as well as a diorama mode that lets you experience the game from a bird's eye view in mixed reality. You can seamlessly switch between four different views. The game supports classic tank controls as well as modern control options. Other features include a left-handed mode and improved graphics thanks to the OpenLara engine. The developers have created a special tool for easy extraction of the game files. Downloads and installation instructions are available for Quest/Pico at SideQuest and for PCVR at GitHub.
