Apple Vision Pro: Soon, you will be able to scroll through content solely with your eyes

Apple is testing a new feature for the Vision Pro that lets you scroll through content with just your eyes. The technology is expected to debut with visionOS 3.
Apple is currently developing a new interaction method for its Vision Pro mixed reality headset: scrolling with your eyes. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this upcoming “eye-scrolling” feature will be included in visionOS 3, the next major version of the headset’s operating system.
The new function is built on Vision Pro’s existing eye-tracking hardware and software. Until now, users have been able to navigate the interface by looking at objects and selecting them with a pinch gesture. With eye-scrolling, Apple is adding another layer to how users interact with the device.
At launch, the feature will work across all of Apple’s own Vision Pro apps. The company is also laying the groundwork for third-party developers to bring eye-scrolling to their own applications.
Expanded accessibility features for Vision Pro
Just days ago, Apple announced a set of upcoming accessibility upgrades across its devices — including support for companies working on brain-driven user interfaces. The first compatible device will be Synchron’s Stentrode implant, which is designed to let people with severe mobility impairments perform click actions using their thoughts.
For Vision Pro specifically, users will soon be able to magnify everything in their field of view through the pass-through mode, a feature aimed at supporting people with visual impairments. The VoiceOver screen reader is also getting an upgrade: new “live recognition” capabilities will analyze the pass-through view with on-device AI, describing environments and recognizing objects in real time.
Select accessibility apps will gain access to the pass-through cameras, enabling live visual interpretation support in apps like Be My Eyes. These new features are expected to roll out later this year — presumably as part of the visionOS 3 update.
