What you get from the VR Optician
The lens inserts can be easily ordered through the webshop and support most current VR headsets, including Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Pico 4, Playstation VR 2, and older models like Valve Index. The lenses can be ordered as a pair or individually for each side. The available prescription strengths range from -16 to +10 diopters, and the cylinder value for astigmatism lies between -6 and +6. The axis is fully selectable up to 180 degrees, and prism changes are also possible.
Customers can opt for extras such as a particularly hardened glass layer to prevent scratches, super anti-reflection, and a lotus effect layer for easy cleaning. Protection against blue-violet light rays, ZEISS BlueProtect, is also an option. The lenses are produced by Carl Zeiss Vision and then built into the insert frames for the respective VR headset. Prices range from 49 dollars for plain lenses without prescription strength to around 260 dollars, depending on the strength of the glasses.
The installation of the lens inserts is straightforward, with a short video available for each VR headset. The inserts do not touch the lenses and snap into place at the edges. It is important that the lenses of the VR headset and the glasses of the prescription lens inserts are absolutely clean before installation.
The major advantage of the prescription lens inserts is the significantly increased comfort. Even those who need high prescription strengths and thus have to pay more are making a one-time investment that reduces setup times for VR use and offers a significantly more pleasant VR experience.
