Acer's 240Hz Predator QD-OLED gaming monitor drops to $319.99 with a $60 discount
Acer's Predator XB270U makes the jump to QD-OLED a little less expensive: Best Buy has the 27-inch 240Hz gaming monitor for $319.99, $60 below its displayed $379.99 comparable value. That's a useful combination for PC players looking for a faster 1440p screen without paying for a larger 4K panel.
This is the black XB270U Xbiip, sold by Best Buy. Pickup and shipping were available when we checked, but availability varies by location; check your local store and checkout price before ordering.
The monitor's 2560 × 1440 QD-OLED panel can run at up to 240Hz, with AMD FreeSync Premium for compatible variable-refresh setups. You'll need a PC and game settings capable of producing high frame rates to make the most of that refresh rate.

What the 240Hz QD-OLED panel offers
The 26.5-inch viewable screen sits in the popular 27-inch class, pairing a sharper image than 1080p with fewer pixels for a graphics card to drive than 4K. Its self-lit OLED pixels can switch off individually for deep blacks, while Acer lists a 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time. That response-time figure isn't the same thing as input lag.
FreeSync Premium can help reduce tearing when the monitor and compatible graphics source work together. The 240Hz refresh rate is a display limit, not a promise that every game will run at 240 frames per second.
For connections, Acer lists two HDMI 2.1 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.4. An HDMI cable is included; check the capabilities of your graphics card and cable when configuring a high-refresh setup.
Consider the stand and room lighting
There are tradeoffs at this price. Acer's specification lists no height adjustment, so shoppers who need a taller screen should check their desk setup and mounting options. The company also describes the surface as glossy, which can mean reflections in a bright room.
OLED shoppers should consider the potential for image retention from static content. Acer includes an image-retention refresh feature, but that does not make long periods of unchanged content risk-free.
The $60 saving compares Best Buy's current price with its displayed comparable value; it is not a claim about a previous low. The offer and store availability may change.
