Acer’s 165Hz Nitro V 16 gaming laptop with an RTX 5050 drops below $950 at Best Buy
A gaming laptop for under $1,000 can make sense if you want to play at the display's native resolution without paying for a flagship machine. Best Buy lists the Acer Nitro V 16 for $949.99, with an Intel Core 7 240H processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU and 16GB of memory.
The exact model is ANV16-I31-76N7. It has a 16-inch, 1920 x 1200 IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 512GB SSD. Best Buy showed the new laptop available to add to cart, sold and shipped by Best Buy, when checked. Availability and delivery vary by location.
Best Buy displays $1,699.99 as its comparable value, a difference of $750. That figure is a retailer comparison, not evidence the laptop normally sells for that much: Best Buy had listed the same configuration at $999.99 recently. The current price is $50 below that listing, so the configuration and sub-$1,000 price are the stronger reasons to consider it.

- Intel Core 7 240H and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 laptop GPU
- 16GB DDR5 memory and 512GB SSD
- 16-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS display, up to 165Hz
The Nitro V pairs a 165Hz display with the RTX 5050
A 165Hz screen can show more frames per second than a conventional 60Hz display, although the frame rate you get depends on the game and graphics settings. The RTX 5050 is a laptop GPU with 8GB of dedicated GDDR7 memory; it is an entry-level option in Nvidia's RTX 50 laptop lineup, so expect to adjust settings in demanding games rather than assume every title will reach 165fps.

The 16GB of DDR5 memory is a useful starting point for a gaming laptop. The 512GB SSD is more limiting if you keep several large games installed, and available storage will be lower after Windows and included software. Budget for an upgrade if you want a larger library ready to play.
Acer's specifications list Wi-Fi 6 and a four-zone backlit keyboard for this model. The company rates the laptop GPU's maximum graphics power at up to 75W. Acer also lists the screen's color gamut at 45% NTSC, worth considering if color-critical creative work matters as much as games.

Check the storage and graphics tradeoffs before buying
This configuration suits someone looking for a 16-inch gaming laptop with a high-refresh screen and a dedicated GPU under $1,000. Its processor, memory and panel are sensible for everyday work as well as games, but 512GB will fill quickly and the RTX 5050 should be judged against your preferred games and settings.
Prices can change, and the listing groups different configurations together. Check that the cart shows the RTX 5050 model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage before ordering.
