A trick multiplies the PSVR 2 controllers' battery

The batteries of the PSVR 2 controllers have to be recharged after four hours. A simple life hack extends the gaming time enormously.

How can I get more play time out of the Playstation VR 2 controllers with their only 520 milliampere-hour (mAh)? Creative Reddit user Imscomobob has found the answer to this question in the field of outdoor accessories. He simply straps a flashlight holder with Velcro around his forearm.

Where a small flashlight normally sits, he inserts a cylindrical powerbank into the tube and connects it to the controller via a short USB-C cable. In a photo, the solution looks secure, but it's flexible enough to move the wrist with ease. Matching "flashlight holsters" are available in online stores (Amazon).

"I have already used different packs, some are heavier than others," explains Imscomobob when asked. Next, he wants to try the Anker PowerCore 5000 model, which weighs a third of a pound and has 5000 mAh (dimensions: 1.65 x .5 x .5 in). This is to be placed closer to the elbow to reduce extra momentum during fast movements.

Youtuber "Eat Sleep VR" shows that it also works without a holster. He simply plugs capsule-shaped power banks from Destek (Amazon) directly into the USB-C ports of his PSVR 2 controllers.

The model used is actually intended for use with the Quest 2 VR headset. So far, the lightweight "capsules" have not slipped out of the controllers.

He does not reveal whether this also applies to motion-intensive games like Horizon Call of the Mountain with its wild climbing movements. At least the 4,000 mAh theoretically allows for a lot of additional gaming time.
