Resident Evil Village: VR mode will come as a free update
Resident Evil Village's VR mode comes bundled with Playstation VR 2, and those who own the game will receive it as a free update.
This was confirmed by the game's executive producer Kanda Tsuyoshi on the Playstation Blog.
The VR mode was announced in June 2022 and in mid-September there were first, positive impressions of the VR version of the horror game developed specifically for PSVR 2.
Those who own the Standard Edition or Gold Edition will receive the VR mode as free DLC. The editions currently cost $39.99 and $49.99, respectively.
Playstation VR 2 will be released on February 22, 2023, and on the same day, the VR mode will be available separately as a download. You can play through the campaign from start to finish in VR.
Mercenaries mode and the recently released Shadows of Rose story expansion are excluded from VR mode, Capcom confirmed to The Verge.
Resident Evil Village will be a PSVR2 highlight
There was already a Resident Evil with VR mode for the first Playstation VR (2016): Resident Evil 7 is considered one of the best and scariest VR games, which terrified more than a million people. The VR version of Resident Evil Village steps it up a notch in more ways than one.
First, graphically, thanks to the PS5's power and PSVR2's high display resolution (four times the pixels of PSVR1), foveated rendering, and subtle adjustments to color rendering, Resident Evil Village should look incredibly realistic in VR.
But the VR experience also gains in terms of gameplay: The VR mode is said to offer a new gameplay experience, as unlike its predecessor, you can play it with Sony's new Sense controllers. They allow free hand movements, new interactions with the game world and handling two weapons at the same time. Resident Evil 7 could only be played with the Dualshock 4 gamepad.

Playstation VR 2 is now available for pre-order without an invitation from Sony
Resident Evil Village, along with Sony's flagship title Horizon Call of the Mountain, should offer the most beautiful VR graphics at the launch of the VR system. In addition to these two games, Sony has announced more than a dozen other PSVR2 launch titles.
Playstation VR 2 will be released on February 22, 2023, and will cost $599.99 or $649.99 bundled with Horizon Call of the Mountain.
The VR system requires a Playstation 5 and can recently be pre-ordered from Sony without an invitation, as long as you have a Playstation account.
