VR survival hit Into The Radius now available for Playstation VR 2
Atmospheric survival shooter Into The Radius is now available for Sony's VR headset, featuring foveated rendering and haptic feedback.
CM Games and publisher Fast Travel Games have released their hit VR survival shooter Into The Radius for Playstation VR 2, available today for $29.99 from the Playstation Store.
In Into The Radius, you equip yourself to face the mysterious Radius, which is riddled with supernatural anomalies. To survive, you'll need to maintain firearms, escape from supernatural enemies, or fight them with realistic weapon handling.
The PSVR 2 version is designed to bring the full original game experience to Sony's headset, while taking advantage of its unique features. These include foveated rendering and haptic feedback for the controller and VR headset. There are also new graphics and performance modes that allow you to customize the visual experience.
From experiment to successful VR hit
Into The Radius has been a huge success since its release for PC VR in 2020. The game received platinum status in Steam's Best of VR awards three years in a row, and was released for the Meta Quest platform in 2022.
As CM Games' Sergei Kharchenko tells MIXED in an interview, Into The Radius originated in the studio's research department and began as a passionate experiment by one person. What was once a one-man project has now grown into a team of about 25 developers.
According to Kharchenko, the community is the most important driving force behind the game's success. CM Games was quick to build a fan community around the game and to implement the wishes of its customers. One example is the game's unofficial mascot, Pecho, a tentacled creature that did not attack players due to a bug. When the developers fixed the bug, fans demanded that the change be reversed. The studio complied and turned the bug into a feature.
The sequel, Into The Radius 2, is currently available in Early Access on Steam. It will be bigger and more narrative-driven than the first game, and will feature co-op support for up to four players for the first time.
