Into The Radius 2 features improved graphics and a co-op mode

CM Games has released the first screenshots of Into The Radius 2 and announced a co-op mode for up to four players.

Into The Radius is influenced by the groundbreaking FPS trilogy S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (2007-2009), which in turn is loosely based on the science fiction novel Roadside Picnic (1971) and its film adaptation Stalker (1979). Here, as there, the theme is survival in an exclusion zone and the collection of rare and valuable artifacts created by life-threatening physical anomalies within it.

Into The Radius was built from the ground up for virtual reality and has become one of the most popular VR games. It has thousands of positive reviews on Steam and Meta Quest.

With the sequel, Estonian studio CM Games aims to further develop the franchise in terms of gameplay and graphics. The Steam page for Into The Radius 2 went live this week. It contains the first screenshots and details about the features. The most significant addition is the introduction of a co-op mode for up to four players.

A VR survival shooter

Like its predecessor, Into The Radius 2 is a true survival FPS. In your base, you can customize and maintain your weapons, sell artifacts and acquire new equipment before heading back into the zone. Recovered artifacts can boost your abilities or be sold for cash.

CM Games describes the sequel as follows:

The sequel retains the beloved features from the original, including meticulously crafted weapons and attachments, a sophisticated loot-management system, and the freedom to explore the secrets of the dangerous locations teeming with anomalies and haunting enemies. Building on this foundation, Into the Radius 2 will introduce riveting expansions, starting with the option for up to four-player co-op.

Early Access PC launch in 2024

Like its predecessor, Into the Radius 2 will launch in Early Access on PC and will be developed in close collaboration with the community. The studio writes on its Steam page:

“Releasing the first installment of Into the Radius in Early Access was an incredibly positive experience for us. We received a ton of valuable feedback and suggestions from players, which played a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the game. Now, as we gear up to introduce co-op gameplay in Into the Radius 2, we're venturing into new territory with multiplayer development, so we're convinced that involving players as early as possible will be essential to making Into the Radius 2 the best game it can be.”

The Early Access version is scheduled for release in 2024 and already includes the optional co-op mode. Fans can also look forward to a substantial location, various types of anomalies, a range of weapons, and a collection of artifacts. CM Games aims to release the game in late 2025, but "plans can always evolve as we progress," the studio adds.

Into The Radius 2 can now be wishlisted on Steam.
