MIXED Previews & Reviews
- The mixed reality title Guardian of Realms is now free to play. We took it for a spin to see if it’s actually worth your download.
- One of the VR scene’s most popular drumming games just landed on Playstation VR 2, but there are some key differences from the Quest version.
Pirates VR: Jolly Roger Comes to PlayStation VR2
Pirates VR: Jolly Roger has officially made port on PlayStation VR 2. If you missed it back in January on Steam, now’s your chance to jump in on Sony’s headset. You’ll explore a bizarre Caribbean island with your wisecracking parrot companion, fending off undead pirates, solving puzzles, and poking around haunted ruins. The PSVR 2 release throws in some extra polish: haptic feedback for both the headset and Sense controllers, adaptive trigger support, plus a fresh intro scene set in a pirate bar. It’s not quite Black Flag, but it’s got plenty of pirate flair.
Of Lies and Rain: Free Demo for Sci-Fi Shooter
The post-apocalyptic VR shooter Of Lies and Rain now has a free demo available on Meta Quest and Steam. In this one, you’re fighting to save what’s left of humanity, jumping between real and digital worlds after a decades-long war with the rogue AI “A.D.E.” The game will launch in Early Access with all core content unlocked from day one. If you’re into sci-fi shooters, it’s definitely worth a look.
Wonder: Mixed Reality Anthology Launches on Quest 3
Wonder is now out for Quest 3, bringing a set of mixed reality experiences that bend your living room into something altogether weirder. The launch includes three scenarios, with more promised down the line:
- Ancient Ruins: Your space becomes a mysterious cave warped by a black hole.
- Jellyfish Bloom: Dive into a deep-sea world filled with glowing jellyfish.
- Parallel Worlds: Use portals to twist reality and remix your environment into wild alternatives.
DLCs & Updates
Grimlord: “Sands of Glory” Update Adds Arena Mode
The new Sands of Glory update for Grimlord is live, delivering an arena mode and a questline that ties into each chapter’s theme. Look out for new enemies, boss fights, expanded rewards for the weapon upgrade system, and fresh weapon parts and armor sets.
DigiGods: Carnival Update Unleashes Acrobat Avatars
The Carnival Update for DigiGods drops a new avatar class — Acrobat Avatars — letting you bounce across maps with flashy moves. You also get festival-themed dragons to ride and sow chaos, plus new obstacles: a ragdoll cannon, bumpers, and a dizzy potion to scramble player movement. Two premium bundles — the Ringmaster Bundle and Bozo Bundle — add even more cosmetic flair.
Pinball FX VR: Nine Classic Williams Tables for Quest
Pinball FX VR just rolled out nine new Williams tables for Quest, bundled into three DLC packs (each with three 90s-era tables):
- Volume 1: The Getaway: High Speed II, Junk Yard, Medieval Madness
- Volume 2: Black Rose (think high-seas adventure), Attack from Mars (retro sci-fi), The Party Zone
- Volume 3: Theatre of Magic, Safe Cracker, The Champion Pub (boxing theme)
Eleven Table Tennis: Major Update Improves Physics
Eleven Table Tennis just pushed out update 0.372.0, featuring major improvements and a slate of bug fixes. The patch addresses issues with arena spotlighting, table lines, and temporarily disables the replay button for the ball machine. Ranked mode play bugs have been squashed, and there’s a new height adjustment tool for players with real ping pong tables at home. Other updates include tweaks to the paddle’s rubber coating, fixes for paddle position, and smoother interfaces all around.
Frenzies: Progression Update Brings Ranks and Challenges
The Progression Update for Frenzies introduces a new ranking system, daily challenges, and unlockable rewards. Rack up XP from matches and challenges to snag exclusive bonuses. Plus, new bot voice-overs are in the mix for a bit of comic relief.
