The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution announced
One of the most popular VR games continues: Chapter 2 of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners directly follows the predecessor.
The heavyweight of survival games in virtual reality is getting a sequel: Skydance Interactive has announced on the second anniversary of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners that the story will be told further.
"The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution" will not be a classic sequel, but the standalone title will still continue the storyline from Part 1.
"Horrific" adventure announced
Gamers will once again slip into the role of "Tourist," who embarks on a "gruesome" adventure in New Orleans, according to the press release. Along the way, "through the French Quarter and beyond," the main character will meet new characters. In addition, many fateful decisions must be made again. The adventure is aimed at game players who want to embark on a new chapter in the history of tourism without much ado.
Skydance Interactive will bring the game to all major VR platforms. The Studio isn't releasing any more details for now, with further information to follow over the course of the year. Instead, Skydance CEO Chris Busse thanked the buyers of Part 1: "We are grateful for the continued support of the player community that helped make the game the success it is today."
Can Retribution build on the success of Saints & Sinners?
Part 1 of the quiet but thrilling survival game is one of the most popular VR games ever. Just in October, Skydance reported cross-platform sales of $50 million. MIXED editor Max also praised the game in the highest terms in his review:
"Saints & Sinners is not a zombie game, it's a game about humans in a zombie apocalypse. The atmospheric world tells exciting stories, the crafting system is motivating, and the environment and characters feel alive."
Crafting interludes and loot raids in abandoned mansions are also likely to play a big role in Retribution. Part 1 was released for Meta Quest (2), PlayStation VR, and PC headsets, and received several updates after release. These included a Horde mode as well as new "Aftershocks" missions.
