Surviving Mars: Pioneer lets you build a Mars colony in VR

The city builder Surviving Mars is venturing into VR. Starting May 8, you can build a Mars colony from a first-person perspective.
Surviving Mars: Pioneer is based on the 2018 city-building survival video game of the same name, but has been reimagined from the ground up for virtual reality. You must mine resources, process materials, and strategically plan your missions on the surface of Mars, all from a first-person perspective.
The game features several VR-specific survival systems. You have to keep an eye on vital parameters such as oxygen, food, health, and energy. Base building involves planning and placing structures to strategically expand your outpost. Dynamic missions provide you with resources, technical upgrades and construction plans. Use jetpacks, hoverbikes, and rovers to explore the surface of Mars.
Surviving Mars: Pioneer will be released on May 8, 2025 in the Horizon Store and on Steam in Early Access. The price is $20. Those who pre-order will receive a 10 percent discount and an exclusive in-game poster.
The game is in active development, meaning regular updates, improvements, and new features will arrive throughout the Early Access phase, shaped by player feedback and community engagement.
A version for PlayStation VR2 will be released at the end of the Early Access period with the full launch of the game.
Bolverk Games is a Danish studio that has specialized in VR games since 2015. The studio's previous titles include the abstract platform game Glyph and the sci-fi adventure Genotype.
The game will be published by Impact Inked, a new publishing arm created by the founders of Flat2VR Studios. Surviving Mars: Pioneer is the first project from Impact Inked, with more to come in the coming months.
