This new VR shooter turns you into a teddy bear fighting off a little girl’s worst nightmares

The monsters under the bed have a new problem: a heavily armed teddy bear. STUFFED: Two Foot Hero is out now on Steam, putting players inside a child’s nightmares with homemade weapons and a job to do.

The VR shooter from Waving Bear Studio can be played alone or with up to three friends online. You build defenses between attacks, fight through waves of enemies and try to keep the nightmares from getting through.

There’s a free demo on Steam if you want to see how that mix of shooting and defense building feels before buying. The full game launched on November 3.

From rubber ducks to shadow monsters

According to the Steam listing, the game has six dream-inspired maps, with ten increasingly difficult waves to complete each night. The opposition ranges from garden gnomes and rubber ducks to skeletons and shadow monsters.

Between fights, players can build and repair barricades, place traps and use manual turrets. Weapons are made from household objects, with upgrades available at a weapon station. You can also dual-wield and physically reload in VR.

If ten waves aren’t enough, an Endless Mode lets players see how long their defenses can last. In co-op, teammates can revive one another when the fighting gets too much.

A free demo is available

STUFFED is a VR-only game on Steam. The store lists cross-platform multiplayer, although players should check which versions their friends own before planning a session.

The developer’s listed PC minimums include Windows 11, an Intel Core i7-11700F or similar processor, 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 2060 or similar graphics card. SteamVR is listed for headset support.

There are cosmetic unlocks too: players can level up their bear to change outfits and fur, while weapon mastery unlocks skins. It’s a cheerful-looking premise with a rather less cheerful assignment.
