FACTS

The studio behind Starship Home, Creature, is stepping into the spotlight with its own VR showcase on Monday, May 19. Hosted by IGN, the event is set to start at 9 am PT and will be streamed live on IGN's YouTube channel, according to Creature’s announcement.

Attendees can expect new game reveals, fresh collaborations, and updates from Creature’s publishing slate. Details are still under wraps, but more information is expected soon.

CONTEXT

Who is Creature?

Creature is both a VR studio and publisher, led by industry veterans Doug North Cook and Ed Lago. The label represents a handful of notable VR titles, including Maestro, Thrasher, Budget Cuts, and Prison Boss VR. Notably, Creature took home the D.I.C.E. Award for Technical Achievement in Immersive Reality at the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards for its in-house project, Starship Home.

If you missed it, Starship Home is one of those Mixed Reality games that turns your living room into a spaceship. Players travel to alien worlds in search of rare plants, nurturing them along the way. The twist: these plants are your only shot at stopping a universe-threatening plague.

Doug North Cook isn’t new to the VR scene. Before Creature, he led the VR division at Robot Teddy and had a hand in big-name projects like Among Us VR and The Last Clockwinder. On top of that, Creature has teamed up with SideQuest to offer a $1 million fund supporting indie VR developers with financial, technical, and creative resources.

Creature’s showcase isn’t the only regular event in VR. There’s also the VR Games Showcase, which last ran in March 2025 and featured 22 game announcements. The next VR Games Showcase is slated for August and, according to organizers, will feature the biggest lineup yet.
