Dystopian JRPG Soul Covenant coming to all major VR platforms in April

Soul Covenant will be released in April for all major VR platforms, including Meta Quest and Playstation VR 2.

Soul Covenant is an action-RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. The Japanese studio Thirdverse describes the game as follows

Soul Covenant invites players to delve into a deeply emotional narrative, set against the backdrop of a ravaged Tokyo, humanity's last bastion against the relentless onslaught of an AI-led genocidal army known as "Deus Ex Machina." As part of the "Reincarnation Project," players will embody warriors infused with the memories of past heroes, engaging in an intense struggle for humanity's survival and the future of Tokyo.

Key features include an emotional story that explores themes of sacrifice, redemption and the resilience of the human spirit, intense hack'n'slash combat and a multiplayer mode for up to four players.

Soul Covenant will be released on April 18, 2024 for Meta Quest 2 and 3, Playstation VR 2 and PC VR headsets. The price will be $40. You can already pre-order the title in the Quest Store.

Developed by the core team behind the Japanese action RPG Soul Sacrifice (PS Vita), Soul Covenant is a VR expansion of the franchise. Executive Producer Teruyuki Toriyama previously worked at Sony Interactive Entertainment and Japan Studio. He was involved in the development of games such as Bloodborne (PS4), Astro Bot Rescue Mission (PSVR 1) and Demon's Souls (PS5).

Thirdverse is a VR studio founded in 2020 that developed the VR games Swords of Gargantua, Altair Breaker, and X8. The studio recently closed an $11.3 million Series D funding round. To date, the company has raised a total of $42 million. The funds will be used for Soul Covenant, staff expansion and future projects.
