VR headsets for $11.99 a month: Pimax introduces membership model for high-end VR headsets
VR headsets in installments. Pimax wants to make expensive VR headsets more affordable with its new Prime membership.
Pimax today announced the launch of Pimax Prime, a new membership program designed to make VR hardware more affordable through flexible payment options. The program will initially launch with the Pimax Crystal Light VR headset, which is now available for a down payment of $599 plus 24 monthly payments of $11.99, down from the original $899.
Alternatively, Prime subscribers can save 10 percent by purchasing the Crystal Light with a one-time payment of the remaining $269 after the down payment. At the end of the contract term or the one-time payment, the hardware is fully owned by the buyer.

Crystal Super coming in 2025 with "Retina resolution"
The Prime program will also be available for the new Crystal Super, which Pimax is announcing for the first quarter of 2025. The high-end VR headset is set to achieve a "retina resolution" with 3840 × 3840 pixels per eye and 57 pixels per degree of view (PPD).
The Crystal Super will be available for $1,695 instead of the originally announced $1,799. In the Prime program, interested parties pay a deposit of $999 plus either $696 as a one-off payment or 24 monthly instalments of $32.99 each.
The Crystal Super features a 120-degree field of view, aspherical glass lenses with 99 percent light transmission as well as eye and inside-out tracking. The housing volume has been reduced by 30 percent compared to previous models.
