Pico's first live VR comedy series is free this Friday in 3D and 8K resolution
Pico and The Comedy Store are bringing British humor to newer Pico headset owners with three free, live broadcasts starting this Friday.
The Comedy Store is a famous UK comedy club with physical locations in London and Manchester. The first event starts at 7:00 pm GMT on Friday, February 24, 2023. British humor will soon expand to many more countries via Pico's virtual venue, "Stand-Up at the Comedy Store."
Well-known actor and comedian Mark Watson will host the first of these 40-minute shows. An all-star cast of comics will be performing, including Russell Kane, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, and Joshua Bethania.
The other two free comedy events take place on the following two Fridays, March 3rd and 10th. If you can't make the events, you can still stream them afterward.
What do I need to watch?
Owners of the Pico 4 and Pico Neo 3 Link headsets will get the experience of being immersed in the audience with a three-dimensional, 360-degree view of what is happening at the live event.
If you can travel to one of The Comedy Store locations, you might be able to watch without a compatible headset. To apply to be part of the live audience, visit SRO Audiences, a website that manages TV event participants.
These Comedy Store shows will only be viewable in some parts of Europe, and Pico headsets are not yet available in North America, where the Meta Quest 2 still dominates VR.
Watch and interact with emojis
Simply watching is a different experience than being at a live event, so Pico added the ability to interact by hitting an emoji button. Pico notes that this is possible at various points during the show rather than a continuous stream of emoji reactions you might see on social media.
Everyone loves a good laugh, and immersion can help tickle your funny bone since laughing really is contagious. This sounds like a fun experience and a welcome addition to the other video content and XR experiences that are available to Pico headset owners.
Pico also offers live concerts and after-show parties , having started in January of this year. You can install the free Pico Video app to watch these live events.
