FACTS

Wired Productions and Just Add Water are releasing DIG VR for Meta Quest on October 24, 2024. In this VR simulator, you control various excavators in the fictional town of Diglington.

You start with a mini excavator and unlock larger machines as you progress through the game. There are four excavator sizes in total. Seven tool attachments, such as buckets, jackhammers and circular saws, expand your range of applications. The variety of tools allows you to tackle different tasks and hone your skills as a virtual excavator operator.

The game features an extensive career mode suitable for both beginners and experienced players. In addition, entertaining mini-games and a relaxed sandbox mode for creative digging without time pressure await you. With over 70 customization options, you can personalize your excavator and make it unique.

Six radio stations with 45 songs provide musical accompaniment while you work. The playlist includes a variety of genres and was created by well-known artists and composers, including Kieron Pepper (former live drummer for The Prodigy) and Stu Brootal (Ivar & The Horde).

CONTEXT

VR simulators are gaining popularity

DIG VR joins the category of VR simulators, which also includes Lawn Mowing Simulator VR and Power Wash Simulator VR. These games transform everyday tasks into VR experiences. They leverage the possibilities of virtual reality to turn routine activities into immersive and entertaining gaming experiences.

DIG VR is compatible with the Roto VR Explorer, a special gaming chair with a motorized base and haptic feedback. This technology aims to enhance immersion while reducing motion sickness. The Roto VR Explorer uses patented “Look & Turn” technology, enabling a 360-degree gaming experience.

Interested players can already add DIG VR to their wishlist on the Meta Store. Additionally, the developers have launched a digital radio station called DIG FM, specifically aimed at construction workers worldwide and thematically fitting the game.
